Our Use of Personal Data

Upon signing up for a game, we collect and store certain personal data, including your name, email address, phone number, and a record of the games you have played. We process and retain this data for the following reasons:

1. Customer Support:

We may keep a record of your personal data to provide assistance and support related to your gaming experience. This includes contacting you or members of your team regarding any issues or feedback. Additionally, if you initiate a purchase but do not complete it, we may retain your personal data to follow up with you and offer assistance in completing the purchase. The processing of this data is based on our legitimate interests as defined by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Article 6.

Once you have played a game, we will retain your data unless you request its removal. This allows us to provide you with information about your past gaming experiences, recommend other games, and ensure that you do not repeat the same game. Since the games do not typically change significantly, repeating them would not offer a new challenge.

To ensure the proper functioning of our systems and provide customer support, our technology partners and customer support staff have access to personal data, including your name, email address, and mobile number. Our internal systems store data on servers maintained by Dreamhost LLC (based in the United States) and Alpha Internet Limited (based in the UK). Customer support data is stored by Zendesk (based in the UK), while payment data is stored by Stripe (based in the United States). Game data is handled by Twilio (based in the United States and the UK). We have agreements in place with these organizations to safeguard your data.

2. Analysis and Product Development:

We analyze data to gain insights into our business performance, market our products effectively, and determine which experiences are most popular among users. This analysis helps us understand customer preferences and identify areas for improvement. We retain data indefinitely, unless you request its removal, to conduct reasonable analysis and recognize our most loyal customers. For this analysis, we utilize Zoho Analytics services. Data is fully stored and processed within the EU boundaries, and on rare occasions, technical support employees of Zoho Corporation Private Limited (their Indian entity) may access the data. No physical transfer of data outside the EU occurs.

3. Communication and Marketing:

If you choose to receive updates about PopUp Games experiences, we will share your name and email address with The Rocket Science Group (based in the United States) for email communication using the Mailchimp tool. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in our emails or through the provided unsubscribe option. The basis for processing your data for electronic marketing is your consent under GDPR.

To inform customers about new PopUp Games experiences, we may provide data to Facebook (based in the United States) for targeted advertising on Facebook and Instagram. The information shared is limited to name, email address, and phone number and is used solely for PopUp Games advertising purposes. Facebook does not have access to the data for their own purposes. If you wish to stop seeing further ads from PopUp Games on Facebook, you can click the '...' menu on the top-right corner of the ad and select 'Hide all ads from this advertiser.' The processing of this data is based on our legitimate interests under the GDPR. Customer data sent to Facebook is locally hashed (encrypted) in the browser before matching and is typically deleted within 48 hours.

We have agreements in place with the organizations mentioned above to ensure the security of your data.

4. Publishing Reviews:

If you submit a review, we may publish it along with your name. However, your contact details will not be made public.

We utilize Google Signals, a feature within Google Analytics, to analyze cross-device data, allowing us to understand how users interact with our website across different devices. This aggregated and anonymized information helps us tailor our offerings and improve user experiences. Google Signals uses anonymized data from users who have enabled personalized advertising across their Google accounts.

Google Analytics:

We employ Google Analytics to analyze website traffic, monitor user engagement, and enhance our marketing efforts. This tool collects data such as IP addresses, device information, browser types, and interactions with our website. Job Applications:

If you apply for a job with us, we retain your data to consider you for current and future roles, unless you request its removal. When you apply for jobs, your data is sent to Recruitee, a company based in The Netherlands, which provides an online form for application submission and stores your data for our team's access.

Right to Erasure:

If you want us to correct or delete your data after participating in our experiences or if you wish to stop its processing for any reason, please let us know. Under the GDPR, you have the right to request this action, and we will fulfill your request without offense.

If we remove your data, we may retain a minimal amount of information related to your request, including your name, email address, and communications concerning GDPR, for two purposes: (1) monitoring the effectiveness of handling GDPR-related inquiries and (2) safeguarding ourselves from repetitive, spurious inquiries, cyber-attacks, or fraud.
